Coffee doesn’t always have to be hot. If the weather heats up and you want a refreshing drink, an iced coffee allows you your coffee hit without making you sweat. But since frothed milk is usually warm, do you need to use different equipment?

Why we enjoy iced coffee

One of the reasons that a lot of peopl;e drink coffee is that it is a great way to boost your energy owing to the caffeine (but always drink this in moderation.)

However, on a hot day, you might not feel like a warm drink to give you that get up and go but a cooling iced latte will certainly hit the spot.

We love sipping iced coffee on a sunny morning while catching up with the latest news.

What’s more, there is so much variety where iced coffee is concerned. No matter what you fancy or what your taste, there will be a recipe that you can fall in love with.

Even if you can’t find a recipe that is absolutely what you want, there are so many ways you can customise the drink to your liking.

Foamy iced coffee – perfect for a summer’s day

Have you ever found yourself reaching for a forgotten cup of coffee only to realise it has gone cold? We know your pain.

This is one thing that made us fall for iced coffee from the first moment it passed our lips; it doesn’t matter if you leave it, because it’s already cold!

This makes iced coffee perfect for people who are on the go; busy mums, those in fast-paced jobs and even people with a crazy social life.

But what is a huge draw to us and a lot of other people is that iced coffee has been shown to help lose weight. According to Harvard, a study revealed that drinking four cups of coffee a day showed a ‘modest loss of body fat.’ Now that’s something we can get on board with!

Which type of milk frother is best to make iced coffee?

To make your iced coffee perfectly, we would suggest using an automatic electric frother that features a cold foam function. This feature allows you to make cold frothed milk that won’t interfere with the temperature of your coffee.

The automatic frother will produce beautifully foamed milk in a short amount of time but can also be used to make hot drinks.

If you’re after something versatile; this is it! It features a single button for all operations making it incredibly easy to use; the different coloured lights will tell you which mode you’re using it in.

How to use your frother to make iced coffee

It couldn’t be any more simple to make an iced coffee using your automatic milk frother. These appliances come with two settings, one for heat and one for frothing. All you need to do is add the required amount of milk and hit the button.

The automatic milk frothers we discuss below produce the froth within about 60-120 seconds, but this will vary from appliance to appliance. Once your milk is foamed and creamy, you can simply add it to your iced drink, sit back and enjoy.

Iced coffee recipe

If you’ve never made an iced coffee before, we understand that you might be a little hesitant in knowing where to start. The great news is that making these delicious drinks is just as simple as making your favourite hot coffee.

While there are many recipes out there, we love this frothy cold coffee recipe. It is cool, creamy and bursting with luscious frothed milk; ideal for a morning pick me up.

  1. You should begin by making your frothy milks. As we discussed earlier, this can be done using an automatic milk frother. While this is working its magic, you can be working on the other elements of the recipe.
  2. Next, take a mix of water, instant coffee and sugar (if you want it sweeter.) You’ll need a quarter of a cup of sugar and the same for the instant coffee and this will need to be added to the water in a mixing bowl.
  3. Grab your handheld milk frother or mini whisk and begin blending the ingredients together. You can use an electric blender for this if you have one. What’s more, it won’t take as long.
  4. You’ll want the liquid to become creamy and frothy; once it has this texture, set it to one side and take a tall glass. Tilt the glass to the side and swirl around some chocolate sauce so that it coats the sides. This is an optional step but for chocolate lovers, it’s a must!
  5. Now you can add the coffee mixture into the glass followed by your frothed milk. If you want a real summery treat, try adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top, but just like the chocolate, this is optional.

Which frother should I buy?
